Today is a special day, for me and fellow Star Wars fans, for today is May 4, and it is depicted as Star Wars day by many fans. Also to get my geek on, today is also my birthday! Yeah!!!!! I always feel sad before that nothing great happens on my birthday then poof! It is the same day as Star Wars day, can’t get any geekier than that. Although it is unofficial, many commemorate this day. The officially declared Star Wars day is May 25 since the original date the film was release was May 25, 1977.
If you are wondering how this day came to be, as we all know or not, one of the most famous lines in the movie is “May the force be with you” and a pun was spawned from that line, “May the fourth be with you”, if you don’t get it eat more rice and try another hobby, like reading! (Kidding). Thus, the pun created an epic connection and the day is now recognized in Star Wars communities worldwide. Some celebrate the day until the 25th like a countdown.
To all Star Wars fans, Jedi Knights (like myself, please it’s my birthday), Sith Lords, droids, to all who move their hands while elevator and other automatic doors open and close, to all those who elegantly wave hands on someone’s face (Jedi mind trick) and to all who are celebrating their birthdays today, “Happy Birthday and May the fourth be with you!”
Fun fact: I can do a Yoda and Chewie voice! You may think that’s weird, but not today my friends, not today.
